My Spiritual Journey to Nankana Sahib: A Call to the Youth

This year, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, located in Pakistan. As an Indian Punjabi girl, stepping onto the sacred soil where our revered Guru was born was both a deeply spiritual and emotional experience. The air was filled with a serene sense of peace, and being there allowed me to connect with my roots and heritage in ways that are hard to describe in words.

The journey to Nankana Sahib was smooth, and the warmth with which we were welcomed made me feel at home despite being in another country. The gurdwara made me appreciate Sikh history and i could feel spirituality all around me. The langar, served with love and devotion, was a humbling reminder of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of equality and selfless service.

This journey was not just a trip; it was a pilgrimage that renewed my faith and connection with Sikhism. In today’s fast-paced world, I feel it is crucial for our youth to explore these spiritual places and understand the teachings of our Gurus. Visiting Nankana Sahib made me realize the importance of staying connected to our roots, especially as the younger generation gets lost in modern distractions.

I urge the youth, especially those of Punjabi descent, to take the time to visit Nankana Sahib at least once in their lives. It’s not just about visiting a historical site but about finding a deeper connection to our faith, culture, and identity. In a world that often feels disconnected, places like Nankana Sahib remind us of the values of peace, humility, and unity that Guru Nanak Dev Ji stood for. Let’s not lose touch with our rich heritage. Instead, let’s embrace it, learn from it, and pass it on to the future generations.
