To effectively handle the Covid-19 crisis, the Centre has been preparing a database of civil service officers with a medical background
Sources in the government said there had always been a realisation that administrative skills combined with medical expertise was the need of the hour to deal with such a mammoth challenge to curb the increasing number of cases. They said keeping this in mind it had been decided to rope in civil service officers.
Officials in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) revealed that the officers may soon be deployed in frontline hospitals to manage and deal with the crisis.
The list will include IAS, IPS and officers who studied medicine and had at least an MBBS degree, they said.
